User Agreement

By using SaloneMarket you accept these terms. Please read them carefully — especially the as-is, no-warranty and dispute sections.

1. SaloneMarket is a venue, not the seller

SaloneMarket is a classifieds platform. We connect buyers and sellers in Sierra Leone. We are not party to any transaction, we do not own the items listed, we do not inspect them, and we make no representations about their quality, safety, legality or fitness for any purpose. Like Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace, every sale is directly between buyer and seller.

2. Items are sold "as-is, where-is"

All items listed on SaloneMarket are sold "as-is, where-is", with all faults, with no warranties of any kind whether express or implied, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

Buyers are fully responsible for inspecting and testing items before paying. This includes phones, laptops, vehicles, generators, electronics, appliances and any other goods. If you do not test it before paying, you accept the item in whatever condition it is in.

3. Buyer responsibilities

  • Meet the seller in a safe public place (markets, police stations, busy junctions).
  • Physically inspect, power on and test the item before handing over money.
  • For phones / laptops: check IMEI, battery health, screen, charging port, accounts logged in.
  • For vehicles / generators: test-run, check documents, request mechanic inspection.
  • Use Safe-Trade Escrow for higher-value purchases. Escrow only releases funds when you confirm the item.
  • Never pay in advance for an item you have not inspected.

4. Seller responsibilities

  • Only list items you legally own and have the right to sell.
  • Describe the condition honestly. Disclose any known faults.
  • No counterfeit, stolen, illegal, hazardous, or recalled items.
  • No firearms, drugs, ivory, endangered species, human remains, or other items prohibited under Sierra Leonean law.
  • Honour agreed prices once the buyer confirms in person.

5. No refund obligation from SaloneMarket

Because we are not the seller, SaloneMarket does not issue refunds, replacements, or compensation for faulty, damaged, broken, missing, mis-described or stolen items bought through the platform. If you bought a device without testing it and it turns out faulty, that is a dispute between you and the seller.

Where Safe-Trade Escrow was used and the dispute is raised within the escrow window, our team will review evidence and may release or refund funds based on the escrow rules.

6. Prohibited conduct

  • Fraud, scams, fake listings, fake reviews, price manipulation.
  • Harassment, hate speech, threats or doxxing of other users.
  • Scraping, reselling our data, or automated mass-posting.
  • Circumventing fees, escrow, or moderation systems.

7. Account suspension

We may suspend or remove any account or listing at our discretion, especially after fraud reports or rule violations.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SaloneMarket, its operators and staff are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform, including loss of money, loss of items, faulty goods, personal injury during meetups, or disputes between users.

9. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Sierra Leone. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Freetown.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use after changes means you accept the new version.
