Payments Terms of Use

Last updated: April 2026 · Applies to SaloneMarket users in Sierra Leone 🇸🇱

These terms cover all payment methods used on SaloneMarket: cash, Orange Money, Africell Money, bank transfer, and Safe-Trade Escrow.

1. Accepted payment methods

  • Cash on inspection — pay only after testing the item in person.
  • Mobile money — Orange Money, Africell Money. Verify the receiver name matches the seller.
  • Bank transfer — for higher value deals; keep proof of transfer.
  • Safe-Trade Escrow — funds held by SaloneMarket until buyer confirms the item via QR pickup.

2. Safe-Trade Escrow rules

  • Buyer pays into escrow before meetup.
  • Seller hands over the item; buyer scans the QR code to release funds.
  • If the item is faulty or not as described, the buyer must not scan the QR — instead open a dispute within 24 hours.
  • Once the QR is scanned, the sale is final and funds release to the seller. No refund after QR confirmation.

3. Fees

Listing on SaloneMarket is free. Escrow transactions may carry a small service fee shown clearly at checkout.

4. Buyer-beware on direct payments

For cash, mobile money and bank transfers made outside escrow, SaloneMarket has no visibility and cannot recover your money if the seller disappears, the item is faulty, or the deal goes wrong. Always prefer escrow for valuable purchases.

5. Chargebacks and reversals

Mobile money reversals are subject to your provider's policy. SaloneMarket cannot force a reversal on your behalf.

6. Prohibited payment use

  • Money laundering, terrorist financing, or any unlawful purpose.
  • Paying for prohibited items (see User Agreement).
  • Using stolen cards, accounts or mobile wallets.

7. Tax

Sellers are responsible for declaring income and paying any applicable taxes to the National Revenue Authority (NRA).
